The Mission of the Alamo Region Tech Prep Consortium is to develop, support and continually improve a system that provides a seamless transition for high school students starting a college technical program of study at high school with a coherent sequence of program-related courses and completing the program of study at a community college resulting in the award of an Associate of Applied Science degree. A successful Tech Prep completer will continue his or her education toward a baccalaureate degree and/or beyond, find employment in an appropriate career field and/or enter military service.

This workshop will provide your BCIS and related subject teachers the opportunity to become certified as a Microsoft Office Specialist. MOS certification will allow qualified students to earn dual credit, or articulated credit, depending on the courses offered at the high school.

This is a great opportunity for students to get a head start on college. Also, it will help your school district meet Section 28.009 of the Education Code, which requires all school districts to implement a program in which students will be able to earn the equivalent of 12 hours of college credit.

During the workshop, time will be allotted to discuss the requirements of Tech Prep for articulated and dual credit. For high school teachers that do not meet the college’s criteria for teaching dual credit or students that do not pass the college’s assessment test (Accuplacer), articulated credit may be used. More detailed information will be presented during the workshops.

All participants must teach a related course(s) in a Tech Prep agreement. If your school district does not have a related Tech Prep agreement, please contact Alamo Tech Prep at (210) 587-4436 or 587-4430. If a Tech Prep agreement is in the development process, a teacher from that school district may participate.
