Welcome parents and students to the Alamo Region Tech Prep Consortium. Your path to securing your future starts here!

In today’s unstable economy, parents and students have become all the more concerned with their future. Today, over 60% of jobs require more than a high school education but less than a Bachelor’s Degree. This affects how high school students plan and prepare for life after high school.

Career Pathways and Tech Prep

It is very important for parents and students to begin researching and discussing career pathways in 8th grade or earlier. The United States has categorized all jobs into 16 industry clusters. The Texas Education Agency implemented Achieve Texas which provides parents and students information on these 16 clusters and career pathways.

Tech Prep bases its programs of study on these 16 clusters and career pathways. Whether or not you decide to enter a Tech Prep program of study, determining your career pathway is essential for planning your education at both high school and college. Use the following websites to assist in your career exploration.

The Mission of the Alamo Region Tech Prep Consortium is to develop, support and continually improve a system that provides a seamless transition for high school students starting a college technical program of study at high school with a coherent sequence of program-related courses and completing the program of study at a community college resulting in the award of an Associate of Applied Science degree. A successful Tech Prep completer will continue his or her education toward a baccalaureate degree and/or beyond, find employment in an appropriate career field and/or enter military service.
